I would suggest that there are not too many areas where we trail the US in policy but this disturbed me at the time, so I did some digging.

Malcom Gladwell has written seven New York Times best sellers in a row. He was on CNN promoting his new book. It starts and ends talking about the opioid crisis. In the US, per capita … OxyContin doses, overdoses and deaths completely outstrips every other county in the world by a factor of two. He was asked how it can be possible that France, Spain, Portugal, Germany do not have this problem? They all have a prosperous middle class who can afford to abuse drugs? His answer: Crooked Doctors!! Purdue Pharma made a conscious effort in the U.S. to subvert doctors and knew they would only need a few thousand of them to make billions for the Sackler family. Guess what country is 2nd on the list with 32,000 opioid deaths since 1997? The Conservative Party has promised to launch a 44-billion-dollar Class Action suit to recover monies spent on this manufactured epidemic on behalf of Canadians. I would support that. For some ugly little reasons (campaign finance), the Liberals have been dragging their heels? I also wonder why we are not reading about these doctor’s having their licenses pulled, their livelihood threatened. Seems to me, it would not require a degree in rocket science to figure out who wrote the prescriptions? Billionaires don’t go to jail. I guess doctors don’t either. Here is some quick reading on the efforts to fix that in the U.S. –>
Maybe it’s time that happened here?
SWMBO was all depressed when the terms of the Liberal $250 giveaway cheque were revealed. She doesn’t get one. Neither do I. Unlike her, I am only disappointed in the Liberals being so out of touch, they think wasting 4 billion dollars (of our money) will narrow the 20-point drubbing they about to get in the next election. I didn’t help matters by listing our comparatively well to do friends all make over a hundred grand and ARE getting the bonus. She went to bed so depressed that I transferred $250 from our household account over to her so she could have a little pre-Christmas shopping spree. I have purchased a few toys of late, so fair is fair. So … she goes to the mall.

She is strolling past some cosmetic store when a sales girl out front tries to give her a sample of something. She replies with a smile and a “no thanks” Then the girl says in a loud clear voice … “I couldn’t help but notice from a distance the bags under your eyes. What do you use for them?” No really. In the mall. I am dying as she is telling me this story. Now, SWMBO is the nicest person in the world and this young lady dressed out at about 300 pounds. “Well, I noticed you from the other end of the mall” is what flashed through her mind but of course, she was nice and said nothing. Merry Christmas Tubby!
Oh lord, it’s hard to be humble. Remember that song? As predicted the Zehr’s flyer includes all of your baking supplies on small discounts and a plethora of red and green displays including (yes) candy cane cookie dough! Get is before they are giving it away in two weeks. Can the ice cream be far behind?
TURKEY ALERT – Nothing yet on the Butterballs but if you want a bare bird and plan to do the whole, defrost, brine, stuff and pray turkey disco (and I know some of you will), then Freshco has them on for $1.49 a pound. I will also mention that Food Basics has a pretty great flyer this week on lots of straight volume grocery items. Zehr’s has a very flashy Christmas flyer but most of the deal are in the meat department. There are a few others and they are on your list:

Tree is up. Might need some work.
