Episode 2 (I got to second base last night ... and it's not what you think)
The Baseball Game

January 11, 2024

The real magic on what I am selling is best visualized if you think in terms on a major league baseball hitter. When you step up to the plate, five different things can happen. Frequently, the pitcher retires you at the plate. If you hit the ball, you often fly out or get thrown out on the bases. We measure your further success by how far you advance. Loop it over the short stop ... a SINGLE, you are on first base. Hit it hard in the gap between two outfielders and you end up on second base, a DOUBLE! Down the line into the corner, it bounces around a bit ... you make it to third base. That's a TRIPLE. Hit it out of the park, a HOME RUN. I will not strain the analogy off into stupid land, but just think about your shopping success in terms of those five outcomes.

Out At the Plate, Flied Out or Thrown Out on the bases - You paid a full price for an item that was not on sale, did not garner extra Optimum points and that was not needed urgently in this shopping cycle.

First Base - A SINGLE is when you buy something that is either on sale or garners you bonus Optimum Points.  Pretty simple.  You got a deal.

Second Base - A DOUBLE suggests you got both extra points, and you bought the item at a discounted price. You got a better deal.

A TRIPLE means a discounted price, bonus points, and continuity purchase points. More on that next time.

HOME RUNS are the Bonus Redemption Eventshasdoes the lowest price per mL I don't pay for peanut butter. I get it free. I have two on the shelf downstairs. I also do not want two giant tubs of anything in our house. It's just SWMBO, the Monster and me. Here are my redemption activities last year:

So my basement is stocked. I date everything before it goes into storage and my goal is to use canned good within one year of purchase. Same for stuff in my freezer. I am currently in the process of using the last of my 2023 labelled canned goods. In this picture there about about 20 cans left with a 2023 date on them. I am actively using them up before year end. Everything else in this picture is less than twelve months old.

Everything in this picture was free (except for the beer). My curated service is a dollar per week. If I find a way to get free beer, it will cost more. Way more! Until next time.
