Oh, the horror (part deux) February 5, 2025
We are home! First order of business.

I fail to understand how the lucky bitch (who I lovingly reference as: she who must be obeyed) has once again used her obviously inferior fishing skills to eke out a narrow victory in our annual fishing excursion. I caught A fish. On the last morning of the last day. Sat out there for a week! Charlie caught two, in about twenty minutes the day before. Eight frigging moronic fish decided to commit suicide and leapt onto her lame unattended hook. Cost me $24 dollars. Cost me bragging rights for another whole year. It's only fourteen years in a row. It's not like it's a pattern or anything?

Optimum Prime

So, for weeks, off and on, I have been pumping the brakes, suggesting things like: “go light” … “don’t go crazy” … “better deals in the future”  Ding ding ding ding. I am not sure why now, but Zehr’s wants big bulging grocery carts this week. I am going to oblige them.  This MORE DAYS event is pretty spectacular.  It starts off with a straight overall Continuity Offer, spend $200 for 20K in points.  Then, you get huge points back (like 50% in many cases) on stuff we buy all the time.  Don’t you just hate it when they have a big shiny offer on something no one ever buys?  Mrs. G gets all misty when Longo’s has a sale on raw yak milk with the kale sprinkles but the rest of us need a can of Beefaroni go with our Texas Toast at midnight. Without trying very hard, I came up with $340 worth of groceries for about $170 That's half price. Remember, we try and hit the number necessary to get the deal(s) but just enough to get over the threshold (THRESHOLD). Here is your list:

With a week up north, I am behind on everything. Reading. Book Reviews. Providing recipes. Trashing Poilievre. I am seriously considering the purchase of a new fridge and we have some door and window decisions to make. I did read two books in January so reviews to follow. In the meantime

What We Are Watching

American Primeval - gratuitous western violence

The Leafs - need a goalie and a star defenseman

The Agency - Fassbender is a god. Richard Gere is pretty great as well!

Lost - I circled back. Eight years it ran? It's stupid right?

Dune: Prophesy - After various Star Wars disasters, this was surprisingly good.

The Landman - Best thing on television so far this year.

Finally ....

So, six weeks to go. By the middle of March, this will all be a distant snowy memory and we can think about seedlings and summer tires. Swimming pools, movie stars. Did anyone get the Riddick reference?

Good eating size!!!
