Winner winner, chicken dinner (Week Ending November 20, 2024)
My Optimum Week
I took my own advice and circled back to My Offers on Tuesday. There was a Flash Sale, BOGO on Old Spice shampoo (which I use). I whipped into Shoppers and saved $18 on two big bottles. Then popped across the road to Zehr’s. We got the little frying pan for $14 and added $6 to that order at the Customer Service desk to get to $20. Remember, each stamp is worth an average of $4.05. Spend $19, no stamp. Spend another dollar and you get four back. Then, a quick loop and closed points deals on dark roast coffee, cheese whiz, international cream, Knorr products and rice. It came out to $58. I grabbed one can of wax beans from a nearby shelf … $60.50. 11,000 in points and free shampoo until spring. Both stops took about twenty minutes.
What's for Dinner?
I have been sharing a TikTok video for this three ingredient Avocado Bread that is going viral. Cottage cheese, avocado and an egg … makes bread? The avocados I bought on sale last week and they had ripened. I must admit., it did look a bit like baby barf going into the oven. It came out looking great though … and the taste? Not great. Not even that good. Actually, it tasted like the aforementioned baby barf. It was also not that cheap to make. I would stick with the Ozery (whole wheat) One Bun if you are trying to limit carbs. They freeze, thaw and toast perfectly. They are zero work and don’t remind you of little Johny when he was colicky.

This Week
Over to the offers which were a little underwhelming this week. The Digital offers were mostly a buck off of stuff I don’t buy. There were the normal 10% point deals on a few staples. Five bucks for a head of cauliflower? Hold me back! Having said that, there were two deals that we should call out:
1. Apple Gift Cards. Up to $500 each. (I bought five of them last year toward my new MacBook). You get 10% back in points. If anyone on your Christmas list is getting an I_something … you could do worse.
2. BBQ Rotisserie Chicken. It’s on sale in your offers AND you get 3000 points for every one you buy. Limit of 4. Once again this week, I listed those whole (fresh) chickens for seven bucks. For eight, you can get them already cooked. You didn’t hear it from me, but it takes real effort to cook one better than Tracy can make one in that big oven over at Zehr’s. I searched the web and here’s is a link for freezing rotisserie chicken: https://www.realsimple.com/can-you-freeze-rotisserie-chicken-8660386 You can read this article but the short version, let it cool before freezing and wrap single pieces in cling wrap. Here is what I am going to do:
